JOINING THE DOJO
There are specific steps we require of every new student to follow during their orientation to training at the Dōjō. Once they have thoroughly considered their intention to join, then following are the correct steps to follow for enrollment.
Attend an observation class. This is when you are welcome into the Dōjō to watch and witness one of our classes in session. This will allow you to have a thorough perspective of our training environment and the expectations for getting the most of your training experience.
Once you have determined that you would like to participate as a student, you are then welcome to attend a 1 week orientation. During this time, you will be able to attend all scheduled classes and determine what best suits your schedule. This time will also allow you the opportunity to get maximum exposure to the Dōjō and training.
Note: Often students would like to join the one week program and bypass watching a class. This is acceptable, we only request that the student visit the Dōjō and meet the instructor prior to their first class.
Once a student has determined they would like to be accepted into the Dōjō as a full-time student, they will then join as mudansha, a student of no ranking as yet, and will begin a three month study of their first curriculum. Once this term is complete, they will test for their first rank, gokyu. When this rank is successfully passed, the student will then be required to join our international organization, the Jinenkan and submit their yearly due of $50 US to the Honbu Dōjō in Japan.
Note: This requirement only applies to adult members.
